Good macroeconomic statistics for Poland in 2009 and 2010 will have a positive impact on country placement in competitiveness ranks and high development potential in the short term. Infrastructure development and cheap labour will still be main reason to invest in Poland, instead of knowledge and innovations. In this case Poland does not differ much from other Central and Eastern Europe countries that after 1989 started to change their economies.
Tanks to the institutional support (mainly EU funds) the growth of region development rate will be higher than country average and based on factors listed above. This situation creates a chance for flexible operating companies, that base its business activity on knowledge and innovations. They could be able to occupy market niches and provide funds, that allow dynamic development and ease doing business during future economy slowdowns.
